In this blog, I am very happy to share with you my secret for the quickest way to learn spanish online.
Are you about to travel to South America? Are you moving to a Spanish speaking country? Have you been studying duo lingo for a long time and still feel insecure when you want to speak Spanish? Are you wondering if duo lingo is really useful for learning a language?
If you answered yes to these questions, we have good news for you! Learn Spanish online is possible, easy, and cheap. I am happy to share with you the quickest way to learn Spanish Online and it's a lot of fun!
As a spanish teacher with more than 15 years of working on site and online.. I have developed a few techniques to keep my students motivated to learn spanish online, and today I am glad to share it with you!
1. Do not quite duo lingo, if you are currently using the app to learn spanish online, do not leave it.
Cambridge University Press and Assessments states that “just one week of learning a new language has a positive impact on students’ levels of alertness and focus”. In other words, learning is good for you in many ways.
So, don't stop learning! It sounds easy to say it but don't stop duo lingo! That's it... once you have started, and you can just complement your learning with a virtual class, instagram and other things... most people tend to stop practicing on duo lingo, but in reality, if you continue to learn vocabulary on the app your brain maintains consistency, and repetition is the key to learning.
In addition, the free version allows you to access different levels, rewards you and helps you incorporate those words into your long term memory.
If you have already completed the levels and want a new challenge, you can access other language learning apps and websites that offer a free and effective way to learn a foreign language that has helped many people, so why not give it a try?
2. Lose the fear of technology to study spanish
Although it may seem strange too many, many people are intimidated by applications with complicated interfaces. Often, they are a little afraid of using these seemingly complicated sites, but that's a complete myth! You don't need to be an expert, for example for my online classes, I prepare a zoom link, easily accessible, send it by whatsapp or email and this way my students just need to click on the link, automatically enter the screen and we are ready to go!
I have several students in their 60's and older that really enjoy their classes because they have already retired, and learning a new language is a good way to keep their brain and memory active, with them I use a different program of repetition that is very practical, one hour a week is enough to entertain, have fun and learn!

Lets cut to the chase, 100% the quickest way to learn Spanish before your trip or to improve your language skills is to take an online course, because besides being convenient, it is not expensive!
With the advances in technology, you can now easily interact with a native teacher. After the pandemic, many people changed their way of working and now we are used to working remotely. Ten years ago, it was very difficult to have a good quality internet signal, or the programs did not have the current functionality, but today we use platforms developed specifically for language teachers, where we can share the screen, videos, whiteboard, chat, recordings, and various applications that allow the class to be interactive and fun.
Another benefit of studying online is that you can do it from the comfort of your couch or studio. So you don't have to worry about distracting sounds, make yourself a cup of tea and practice your Spanish.

4. Complement your learning with other audiovisual or entertainment channels in spanish
Complement learning with movies, videos and more. Netflix, Amazon and Youtube are the best allies of online learning. This is a tip that I give to all my students, look for entertaining TV shows but not movies! Movies require more concentration because of their length, plus the dialogues are more complex and faster than a normal conversation. For this reason, I prefer to recommend programs, TV shows and reality shows, which are personally the best option. The key is to find a topic that you like, a topic that is entertaining for you, so that you can connect with the program. For example, if you like to travel you can watch an influencer travel around Latin America, so while you discover these interesting countries you also learn the language, food and culture. If you prefer to watch TV shows, you can watch cooking reality shows where the participants speak Spanish, and you learn about food, recipes and a thousand things about the culture!
Why do I recommend reality shows like this? Instead of a good movie ..
Because the conversations are quite simple, the situation are simple. Therefore, the content should be light and even if the accents are strong, you can learn a lot by the simple interaction and repetition of the words. This was the way I learned to speak English, I watched many American reality tv shows that for many had no content or were not deep but for me that simplicity made it easy to understand the dialogues and little by little; I was acquiring the vocabulary. Even when I heard a fight and vulgar vocabulary, I had fun because the Spanish language has insults as well and is also good to learn them!
So look for something light, entertaining and fun! And come on!!!

Use all the tools available on the internet and social media offers you many options totally free.
Many Spanish teachers have started this new trend of offering tips and help to learn Spanish on instagram. Yes, we are a great community of teachers giving free tips!

Do you still have doubts about being able to concentrate while studying Spanish online?
It is true that one can easily get distracted in your online Spanish class, but the reality is that concentration is a fickle thing and can come and go regardless of whether you are learning a language online or in a classroom.
As I said earlier, it's important to find something interactive and fun to avoid boredom, but an hour a week can go a long way, if you choose to learn a language with an online teacher, chances are your concentration will remain fairly constant throughout. the lesson and if you want the best, here I am!
A face-to-face conversation allows you to pick up on gestures, how things are said, and other important physical cues for understanding a new language, and in a pre-recorded class you won't have the same result.
